Welcome! My name is Gary and I’m the director of Social Care Dorset, a Health and Social Care training company based in Dorset. As well as providing training services, I practise as a specialist mental capacity assessor for the legal profession and a best interests assessor (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards).

I’ve developed this site to see if I can help you through the minefield that is the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and potentially will be the Liberty Protection Safeguards. As it currently stands, this website contains an information page and a series of blog post. As time progresses, I hope to be able to report on any changes or developments to the Liberty Protection Safeguards but for now there are none. Potentially, there will be none for some time whilst the Government negotiate other matters.  So in the mean time, I’ll provide regular posts about the current DoLS scheme that you may find useful.
